PUDUCHERRY: Thousands of people on Firday participated in a car festival of the Sri Sengazhuneer Amman temple at Veerampattinam near here. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and Ariyankuppam MLA R. K. R. Anantharaman inaugurated the festival in the morning. The car went around the four mada streets. Special annadhanams were conducted for devotees. People from all fishing villages in Puducherry and from Chidambaram, Cuddalore, Villupuram attended the festival. The festivities in the temple at Veerampattinam began on first Friday of the Tamil month of ‘Aadi’ with the hoisting of the pennant. The festival concludes on next Friday with the ‘muthu pallakku’.
